Kenya Women Association (KEWA) is a charity organisation working to eradicate poverty, hardship and isolation amongst African Women living in the UK, by providing advice and information on health, training, education and employment.
We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated and innovative individual to fill up this new post.
Ante-natal Project Worker - (Ref No. KEWA/F/15)
Part-time: 28 hours per week
Salary: £ 21,318 (4 days pro-rata)
Duration: 1 year (provisionally with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds)
You will be responsible for developing HIV/AIDS ante-natal screening and information project targeting African women in UK at a grass root level, using innovative culturally appropriate methods including drama, poetry, debate, workshops, and focus groups to create a route to accessibility to the health care services. You will also take a lead in developing a long-term strategy for the project, recruit, train, supervise and support volunteers.
You should have good communication skills in English and at least two other African languages, a sound proven track record in health promotion work. Experience in project management is desirable with skills in Adult learning techniques and participatory training methodologies being an essential requirement. You should have experience and sound knowledge of health issues affecting African women in the UK.
