in London on Saturday 3rd August, 2002

A colourful wedding took place on Saturday 3rd August, 2002 between John Kiruthi and Emily Kinya Kiruki in London. The ceremony which was held at Baptist Memorial Church, Barking Road, London was officiated by Rev. Elijah Kimani of Huduma Christian Ministries, London assisted by Rev. John Gichiri of Victory Revival Christian Centre and his wife Rev. Margaret Kingaru. It was a wedding to borrow a leaf from. The Cake of the Year and the Meru Traditions in the heart of London made the colourful wedding have taste with difference. Former Miss Kiruki who has been a student in Germany comes from the slopes of Mt. Kenya, Meru, Kenya. A number of her relatives including the parents Mr&Mrs. Peter Kiruki a businessman in Meru town attended the wedding. John Kiruthi is a nephew of Mr. Seed.

In Meru tradition, the head of the bride is tired up with a piece of cloth where all guests will go round fixing some money around the piece as you can see above

"Tutumire mwana kabeti niguo umenye mwana emwene......"

"Bring your note and decorate her so that you know where she comes, she belongs to somebody"..... .. the song continued.....

According to the designer of this cake, this is the second cake of this type to make in his career.

The bride remains in the middle as dance continues

Never seen a cake like it before... 10 pieces altogether making a have a length of 10 ft with horses in front

The seeds were in plenty

All the Seeds sons were on the line

Daughter Seed (left) also joined Betty Kinya (right) sister to the bride. She works with Associated Press, Nairobi.
