Tribute to Ebenezer Twinomusinguzi- Mutahindukah David (22/02/07)

Ebenezer commonly known as Ben was born 11.01.1982 in Mengo Hospital, Uganda to Rev and Mrs Mutahindukah. Ebenezer moved with his family to the UK in 1999 first to Bath before the family settled in Bristol. He attended St George School before he went to Newport, Wales University where he completed with a degree in Marketing. Ebenezer will be remembered for his tremendous love for God and people of all kinds especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds. At his young age Ebenezer had been an active member of a number of churches in Bristol he had belonged to, he never stopped preaching the gospel to his friends and was always there for them. Known as the "miracle" child of the family, Ebenezer grew up to beat several ailments and miraculously being healed of Bronchitis. Of great testimony and memory to the family was Ben's battle with Cerebral Malaria. After he collapsed at school in Uganda, he was hospitalised and was unconscious for 3 days before he miraculously awoke when all hope had been lost.

He will be remembered for his sense of humour, moral values and his willingness to help and reach out to all kinds of people from the community and above all for His love for people and God. His sisters Esther, 22 and Elizabeth 21 will remember him as the ever-present brother in their lives with whom they shared laughs and wonderful moments. He was dependable and also ready to drop everything to be with them even when they moved North for University. To his elder brother Isaac, he will always be the irreplaceable person he could count on to make sure the family was taken care of during his absence from home due to employment commitments.

Dad and Mum will miss a son, for whom to them they gave to the world! Their son was a blessing not only to them but also to all that got to know him.To his friends "Bennie", was the first port of call for any form of help! He was never tired of being there for anyone whosoever they were; male, female, old or young Ben was there for all! 'Ben you have been such an instrumental person, a friend, a brother, always there whenever needed. You served wholeheartedly, unreservedly. You were always you, a man of the people. May God reward you accordingly, we will always praise God fro for you', as described by one of his friends. He was a social worker that was never paid and it is evident through a lot of testimonies we have heard from people who have flocked at the house. Ben went to be with the Lord in wee hours on morn of 14th February 2007 after a collision with a truck on his way from work.

Bristol will miss a true son.

Friends and family are meeting at 92 St Andrews Road, Avonmouth, Bristol, BS11 9ET. Funeral arrangements will be communicated soon.

All contributions can be made to Halifax sort code 110635 account number 00659264 reference: Ben and the name of the contributor. Contact Isaac 07717452992.

APPRECIATION

The Later Rahab Mwangi is a loving sister to Simon Guthiga (Ministry of Water), Leonard Biu (Redhill), Hannah Wanjiru (Next Technology Ltd.), Peninah Njeri (KWFT Mombasa), Stella Nyokabi (UK) and Frashiah Wangui  (UK).  She is sister in law to Josephine Guthiga (Wangunyu Secondary), Beatrice Biu (Redhill), John Hurst (Next Technology) and Ben Muchenje (UK).  She is also a loving aunty to Nungari, Papa, Teddy, Sonia, Evans, David and Mwangi all of Kenya and Tawana, Michael and Grace all of UK.

The family of the late RAHAB MBUIYA MWANGI would like to take this opportunity to thank family members, friends and well wishers for the enormous support that you gave us during the difficult time of the loss of our dear beloved sister.   We would especially like to extend our gratitude to all the Doctors and Nurses of Makindu General Hospital, Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi and the A.A.R. Rescue Services.  We cannot thank you enough for your prayers, moral, floral and financial support that you gave to us and have continued to do so.

The whole family had a lovely Christmas celebration at our eldest brother's home in Redhill.  The late Rahab and her sister Peninah and her son Teddy live in Mombasa and had planned to return to Mombasa on the 30th December 06.  Frashiah and two nephews, Evans and David (brothers) decided to go along in order to spend a few days in Mombasa before returning to Nairobi.  Frashiah had travelled to Kenya from the UK to spend the Christmas period with her family.

The family left Redhill on that fateful Saturday morning hoping to be in Mombasa by evening.  While driving along Mombasa road near Makindu, the car they were travelling in lost control and ended up rolling over, there was no other car on the road.  The late Rahab was thrown out of the car and as a result she had head injuries and bled profusely.  Good Samaritans took us all to Makindu General Hospital but unfortunately on arriving, Rahab was pronounced dead.   Rahab went to be with the Lord on 30/12/06 at around 11:00 am.  We love and miss you so much Rahab, but the Lord loved you more.  'Rest in peace our dear sister and aunty till we meet again'.

The rest of the family were later transferred to Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi by A.A.R. Rescue Response Services where they were all admitted.  Mostly injured was our nephew David who until today requires a lot of medical attention.

The Mwangi family are therefore cordially inviting family, friends and well wishers for a fund raising ceremony in aid of our huge hospital bills.  The ceremony will be held on the 3rd March 2007 at Thatched House Pub, Ripple Road, Barking, IG11 9PG at 6 pm.  Your presence, moral and financial support will be highly appreciated.

Rest in peace till we meeti again.

DEATH and FUNERAL ANNOUNCEMENT

The late Francis Mwangi Thuo

Death has occurred of the late Francis Mwangi Thuo  the former MP for Kigumo, Muranga and the proprietor of Francis Thuo and Partners Ltd. who passed away on Sunday 19th November, 2006 in Nairobi. He was more synonymous with the Nairobi Stock Exchange than with politics, which he also dabbled in. In the field of shares, he was many miles ahead of Kenyans. At one time, he tried to use Parliament to sensitise people on stocks, but very few people understood him then. His dream of a time when many Kenyans would trade in stocks was not realised until KenGen and other popular companies had initial public offers, this year. People flocked to brokers in their thousands. Mr Thuo's death, at Karen Hospital, Nairobi, marks the end of an era when industrious Kenyans rose from scratch to build their own financial empires soon after independence in 1963. He belongs to the league of Defence Minister Njenga Karume, Mr Charles Rubia, the first African Nairobi mayor, and former Mathira MP Matu Wamae. They all established thriving businesses. He was the first chairman of the Nairobi Stock Exchange - which he built from a small outfit of only 70 listed companies.  Not many would remember that he was an MP for Kigumo and an assistant Minister in various ministries during his 10-year tenure in Parliament, between 1983 and 1992. His is a story of a self-made man. He began as a taxi operator after dropping out of secondary school, then read on his own for accountancy courses and did exra-mural courses for Makerere University in Economics and History. He once confessed to a journalist that he was fascinated by shares at an early stage in life and decided to pursue it as a career. Indeed, he was to become the first indigenous Kenyan to start a related company -Francis Thuo and Partners Ltd - as early as 1965. It still trades at the NSE among the 18 existing brokers - two having been suspended from trading.

The burial of the late Francis Mwangi Thuo former MP for Kigumo, Murang'a will be on Friday 1st December, 2006 at his farm in Ikumbu Village, Kigumo, Murang'a, Kenya. Those who want to send their condolences can do so through this email: jmuturi@unfcu.com
