From the streets to the pulpit
Pastor Joseph Njuguna Chege was ordained as a church priest on Saturday 28th May, 2007 in Nottingham. The ceremony was conducted by Arch Bishop Hackman of TAPAC worldwide assisted by Bishop John Gichiri and Bishop Climate Irungu from Scotland. Friends lead by a big team of other priests joined the occasion which took place at the Church on Rise Park, Rise Park, Nottingham. Guests came from far and wide to witness the occasion. Pastor Njuguna was ordained together his wife Sofi. While preaching, the arch bishop reminded pastor Njuguna that he has been chosen by God to serve Him. He explained to him that love in the church is the cornerstone of the ministry. The ceremony started at 2.00 p.m. and ended up at 8.00 p.m. and many guests complained that the occasion took too long. "Mr. Seed tell our people because I know they will listen to you that it is not right for an event to go for more than six hours. I have not eaten and I need to travel back to London", one guest complained.

From the streets to the pulpit. The young Kenyan boy arrived in the UK in 1995 not knowing his fit after arrival. Through the influence of his friends the boy joined a group of bad boys in the streets of East London as Rastafarian. Together with his cousins whom they came together, they ended up taking drugs which pushed one of his cousins to death. The boy's mother had a hard time thinking of his boy in the UK and he sent countless messages trying to contact his son to no avail. At the end of it all, the man saw the light at the end of the tunnel. This time - as one Kenyan described - it is not the underground train coming in the tunnel - it was God's light. The man now a preacher is happily married with one child. He now call himself "Man of God" and he is now having one of the fastest growing church in Nottingham, UK.

Pastor Njuguna tells it all: Pastor Joseph Njuguna is clean of heroin, methadone and other drugs, in fact drugs of any kind. "I was in the last weeks of losing my life, I had lost contact with my family, I lost more than 8 friends most dead of heroin over dose, I couldn't walk anywhere without people pointing at me, looking, watching me. I was living in the street's and homeless shelters. My whole life, from getting up to going to sleep, was about finding a way to supply my heroin for the day. Police said I was one of the most prolific offenders in workshop because I had carried out so many burglaries, shoplifting, and theft. Looking back he describes how even store detectives recognised his face. " Pastor Njuguna explains "I couldn't walk down the town centre. The cameras used to watch me. I saw the security guards at the doors speaking into their walkie-talkies "he's coming down the street watch out. My life got that desperate I knew I had to do something. I tried killing my self but God had a particular purpose for my life that I didn't die. I took heroin overdose 3 times in one instant I was 96% dead they used electric shocks to save my life I always say 'I met the love of God before I met the God of love." MORE
