Smallest church in Britain opens its doors

The church is listed in the Guinness Book of Records

Britain's smallest church will open its doors for the only time this year to host its annual Sunday service. Bremilham Church, on a farm at Foxley-cum-Bremilham near Malmesbury, Wiltshire, measures just 4m by 3.6m. Its single pew has space for four people and there is standing room for six more. The church, which is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the smallest church in service in Britain, holds one service to mark Rogationtide. Between 50 and 100 people are expected to crowd outside the church which was built in the 1800s to replace a larger one on the site. For many years it was used by the farmer who owned it to house turkeys, but when the current owners took over the farm they had it blessed and began using it for services again.

Pastor Wilfred Lai of Jesus Celebrations Centre, Kenya which is one of the biggest churches in Kenya arrived in the UK last week for a gospel crusade in the dry valley - MK - Milton Keynes as it is referred to by many Kenyans in the UK. The pastor had a lot of teaching throughout the weekend which ended up on Sunday 24th April 2005. The preacher who is well known for his beautiful and authoritative voice delivered his sermons with a lot of power to the excitement of the worshippers which was accompanied by sweet stories from Kenya. "I can preach to two people as well as to 100,000 people comfortably, I have no problem with the numbers" the pastor explained looking at the size of the congregation compared to his normal crowd of 20,000. "God, does what He wants to do with or without numbers." the pastor emphasised. He preached about "difficulty times in your life". "When you go through difficulty time in your life as a Christian, never complain. After temptations you come out stronger. If you don't pray during this times of difficulty, you will fall. Never cry as God is never moved by tears. If God is moved by tears He should have been moved by women tears as they do cry in most cases. When your faith goes above your troubles in times of troubles - faith will crash your troubles." Pastor Lai concluded. After his preaching he explained that he will now be on TV in Europe. He will be preaching on Revelations Channel every Thursday at 8.00 p.m. starting from 5th May 2005. The programme will be entitled "Family Glory".
