MAY 2004 - PART ONE

==================

The Tongue
It is a helpful tool
That is used as a dangerous weapon

It is so light
Yet we fail to hold it

Instead of using it as a magic wand
To tap a bit of encouragement upon one’s heart
Or a smile upon one’s face
We use it as a sword to cut people down
Leaving their hearts broken
And their self-esteem low

Instead of using it
To turn ourselves into little angels
Placing blessings upon one’s life
We use it to turn ourselves
Into fire-breathing dragons
Who insists on one’s life being taken

We use it to curse others
Not realizing we are really cursing ourselves
We must learn to hold this dangerous weapon
Before we kill others as well as ourselves

We must learn to watch the words
That we allow to roll off of it

We must allow it to be known
As a piece of gold from heaven
Instead of the flames from hell.

Ghana's VP for a church service at Calvary

Ghana's Vice-President Professor Atta Mills and Nyeri MP Hon. Muriithi were among the worshippers who turned up for a church service at Calvary Charismatic Baptist Church in London on Sunday 23rd May 2004. Notably was the heavy security presence before the service as he vice-president was eagerly awaited at the church. After the service the two guests were given a chance to address the worshippers. Hon. Muriithi explained to the amazement of the congregation how God has helped his family back in Kenya after being attacked by gangsters in their home. The MP who left London on Sunday evening advised the worshippers to remember to pray and to bless you in need back in Africa. "As the Bible says that the best religion is the one that caters for the orphans and widows - get some orphans and widows to help and you shall prosper" the Nyeri MP concluded. While addressing the congregation the Ghana's vice-president thanked the head pastor for inviting him for the worship and promised to come back again. He advised the worshippers to be a part in building their respective countries. The preacher of the day was Rev. Francis Sarpong the head pastor of Calvary Charismatic Baptist Church, London. During his sermon which was based from 1Corrithians 12:27 taught about Spiritual Gifts. He narrated well about the gift of a HELPER which is lacking from today's generation. "Some of you if taken to your village - no one would burry you - now body knows you" Rev. Sarpong explained

Whispers
The man whispered, "God, speak to me"
and a meadowlark sang.

But, the man did not hear.

So the man yelled, "God, speak to me"
and the thunder rolled across the sky.

But, the man did not listen.

The man looked around and said,
"God let me see you."
And a star shined brightly.

But the man did not see.

And, the man shouted,
"God show me a miracle."
And, a life was born.

But, the man did not notice.

So, the man cried out in despair,
"Touch me God, and let me know you are here."

Whereupon, God reached
down and touched the man.
But, the man brushed the butterfly away ...

and walked on.

I found this to be a great reminder that God is always around us in the
little and simple things that we take for granted ... even in our
electronic age . so I would like to add one more:

The man cried,
"God, I need your help!"
And an e-mail arrived reaching out
with good news and encouragement.

But, the man deleted it and continued crying ..

Don't miss out on a blessing
because it isn't packaged the way that you expect.

My instructions were to send this to people that I wanted God to bless
and I picked you.  Please pass this to people you want to be blessed.

Expect the unexpected...
Have A Happy Day!

Dinning after the Word

Hon. Muriithi the MP for Nyeri Town was among the Kenyans who attended the Swahili Service in London on Sunday 16th May, 2004. The monthly service which takes place at Calvary Charismatic Baptist was well attended by Kenyans from different parts of  UK. The sermon was delivered by  Rev. Samuel K. Muya from Elburgon, Nakuru, Kenya. The preacher who is good in Swahili preached from the book of Songs of Songs (Songs of Solomon) 2:14-15.  The theme was "COME OUT OF HIDING IN THE CLEFTS".  Because our vineyards are in bloom. God wants us to celebrate our blessings. We have to be aware of the small foxes that destroys our flowering vines (ie. our blessing). The small foxes are the sins we count as small but they are very destructive because they spoil our relationship with God who want to bless us.

Hon. Muriithi who was on transit from US addressed the congregation.  He advised Kenyans abroad to emulate the Jews who always remember their mother country. "Be God fearing people in the UK" the MP advised the Kenyans. He told the worshippers that he is taking care of over 60 orphaned children in Nyeri Town. A number worshippers contributed some money to help him to construct toilets for the children. The MP, the preacher  and a few others were treated for a dinner by the Senior Pastor Rev. Francis Sarpong at exclusive restaurant.

Trolls attack Internet church

THE FIRST INTERNET church in the world has fallen victim to a plague of Internet trolls, or as they call them virtual demons, some of whom have been logging on as Satan and unleashing strings of expletives during sermons, claims a site spokesman. The 'Church of Fools' was launched to let Christians worship interactively by choosing an animated character who could kneel, sing hymns, talk to others, hear a sermon, or shout Hallelujah. The site attracts between 5,000 and 10,000 worshippers daily and those who log on can also give money to a collection plate via mobile phone. But the temptation to misbehave has proved too much for some. 'We have had problems from a small number of worshippers, which happens in any Internet chat room, and we are bothered about individual harassment, which we are taking seriously,' said the site's deputy editor, Stephen Goddard.

A 3,000 seater church in Elburgon, Kenya

Rev. Samuel Muya of Talents Revival Centres in Elburgon, Kenya came to the UK in March, 2003 to solicit for funds to build a church for his congregation back in Kenya after facing eviction by the landlord. His aim was to go and buy a plot and build a church according to his specifications to tally up with the modern days. After a fundraising in April last year organised by Kenyans in London he was given about one million Kenya shillings to start the work. He went back home and did just that. One year down the line he has done an impressive job and the congregation could not wait to move to their new premises but they have already moved into the new premises without the roof. He is now appealing to friends to help them complete the construction of their church as they have now exhausted all the funds. He is planning to come to the UK in the month of May 2004 for further fundraising to complete the building. His contact is 0734745609 or 002545131252 - email samuelmuya2003@yahoo.com
