THE 2007 KENYAN PROPERTY EXHIBITION – LONDON (21st July 2007)

(Invest in Kenya; Build Kenya)

The Kenyan High Commission (London) in collaboration with Kenya Club (London) and RealKen International Limited are pleased to be hosting the first ever Kenyan Property Exhibition in London. This will be an opportunity for the Kenyan Real Estate Sector to showcase the wide variety of investment opportunities available in Kenya, and thereby attracting international investors. It will also provide investors in the UK with a one-stop shop for all their Kenyan property investment needs.

The growing importance of the Diaspora, with a potential market of $1 billion annually[1], to the Kenyan economy is undeniable. Following the highly successful KDIF conference held in London in December 2006, there was a huge demand for information and investment opportunities in Kenyan Real Estate.

In addition, Kenya is emerging as an ideal market for second-homes for both locals living abroad and for foreigners look for an exotic retirement or investment location.

Dr Lawrence Mbugua, secretary of Kenya Club, says that ‘the aim of the exhibition is to promote Kenya as an attractive international property investment market. It is also an opportunity for both the public and the private sector to demonstrate recent economic growth and state the case for increased investor confidence in the Kenyan economy. We are also keen at highlighting low-cost housing schemes’.

To facilitate the participation of interested organisations in Kenya, Kenya Club is collaborating with Realken International Limited, a local real estate consultancy.  Mrs Catherine Kagiri, the principal, confirmed that the event is the first of its kind – concentrating wholly on real estate by Kenyans at an international level.  She reiterated that this event will provide international exposure for Kenyan housing developments, as well as networking and business opportunities with interested buyers and investors visiting the exhibition.

Although, the exhibition itself will be held over one day, the 21st of July, the programme for exhibitors will cover 3 days. Exhibitors will get the rare opportunity of viewing real estate developments in and around London, and witness first-hand the UK real estate development in action.  In addition, one-to-one meetings with potential investors will be facilitated.

The Kenyan High Commission in London confirms that the Minister of Housing, Hon Soita Shitanda, EGH MP and the Minister for Local Government, Hon. Musikari Kombo,E.G.H, M.P. have both confirmed that they will be attending on the 21st July 2007.

Some of the companies that have confirmed attendance include Kenya Commercial Bank; Housing Finance; Savings and Loan; and Scion Real – to name but a few. There are various options available for the Kenyan real estate market to be available, including:
